The Battle of Bataan  started on the 7th January 1942. After what has been described as one of the most intensive battles during Imperial Japan's WW2 invasion of the Philippines. General Douglas MacArthur, had consolidated all of his unites that were based on Luzon, to the Bataan Peninsula in order to fight against the Japanese invaders.  The Bataan peninsula and the island of Corregidor were all that remained in the hand of the allies, as by this time, the Japanese controlled nearly all of Southeast Asia.Despite a lack of supplies, Filipino (many were U.S. Nationals) and American forces managed to fight the Japanese for three months, engaging them initially in a fighting retreat southward. As the combined Filipino and American forces made a last stand ending in their surrender on the 9th April 1942.
